Housing Services – Tenant-Based Rental Assistance
The Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) Program provides rental support to eligible Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation tribal citizens seeking safe, decent, and affordable housing in the private rental market. This program, funded mainly through the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA) funds, aims to reduce the financial burden of housing costs and improve access to stable rental opportunities.
Key Features of the Program:
- Financial Assistance: Covers a portion of rent payments based on household income and fair market rent limits.
- Move-in Support: Assistance with security deposits and first month’s rent for eligible participants.
- Eligibility Requirements: Open to enrolled tribal citizens meeting income guidelines and other program criteria.
- Tribal Preferences: Prioritizes low-income elders, disabled citizens, single parents, veterans, and families in need.
- Flexibility: Allows participants to choose housing that meets their family's needs while ensuring compliance with program guidelines.
Participants are responsible for finding their own rental housing. Tribal Housing Staff administer the program but do not participate in tenant screenings or make landlord recommendations.
